A porcelain hair receiver with a clearly written saying inside, "A kind word is never wasted". Put on a dressing table, these were used by ladies to save their hair to make pads (ratts) for fashionable bulky hairstyles, for hair jewellery, or for stuffing pin cushions etc. The piece is clearly signed by Nancy Duden, IGMA Artisan in china painting and also has an incised LD for Leroy Duden, her husband, who produced the porcelain blanks.
