Your choice of two handpainted toleware tin boxes by IGMA Fellow Mary Grady O'Brien. I think that these are known as document boxes. I believe that they do open but I'm not going to try it and risk scratching the paint. The smaller one with the white paint is from 1976. The larger one comes with a note that the design "is from the spinning wheel book" and is also from 1976.
Small box, left: 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) wide, 9/16 inch (1.4 cm) deep, 13/16 inch (2.0 cm) tall.
Larger box, right: 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, 5/8 inch (1.6 cm) deep, 13/16 inch (2.0 cm) tall.
