Purple janthina shells. 1:12 and 1:24. Sold individually

These lovely purple shells have quite a story.  Unlike the molluscs we usually think of, the creatures that made these don't live on a substrate - they each create a raft of bubbles and float on the ocean surface, a pelagic lifestyle!  I also personally found these, on a black sand beach in New Zealand, washed ashore along with white spirula shells.  I was so excited that I forgot to take a photo, much to my regret.  Each one is carefully mounted on a gold-plated brass stand.  When you handle these, please do so by the base, not the shell itself.

I think that I have specimens here that can work in both 1:12 and 1:24 scale.

Left: 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) wide, 3/4 inches (1.9 cm) tall.

Centre: 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) wide, 11/16 inch (1.75 cm) tall.

Right: 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide, 9/16 inch (1.4 cm) tall.
