Polished agatized snail shell, Wyoming

$9.00

SKU: 8975

A tiny little fossilized snail shell.  Although usually called a turritella it is actually from a freshwater deposit, not a marine one, and the shells are those of the freshwater snail Elimia tenera.  It has been preserved as agate, and then tumble polished so that you can see its internal spiral structure.  It is from Wyoming.  It is discreetly glued to a custom wood base.

13/16 inch (2.0 cm) wide, 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) deep and 5/16 inch (0.8 cm) tall.
