A segment of fossilized pentacrinites crinoid stem, mounted on a base of polished black onyx. I think that this fossil will work in both 1:12 and 1:24 settings.
Crinoids, or sea lilies, flourished millions of years ago. A few species still survive today
deep in the oceans. Their stems are made up of a series of stacked discs, varying in exact design by species. Most are circular in cross-section but the extinct pentacrinites genus had lovely star or hexagonal shaped stems. The detail on this is excellent.
1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide, 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) deep and 5/16 inch (0.8 cm) tall.
