Real butterfly wings are encased in clear resin and then framed in sterling silver. I'm not sure if it is Doxocopa or Prepona butterfly wing on the front but it is blue morpho on the reverse. The butterflies are sustainably raised in the Peruvian Amazon area and are collected once they have lived their natural life span. The preservation and silversmithing is also done in Peru.
As a bonus, this piece can also be suspended from a chain as a pendant, or, if you have size 4 fingers, worn as a ring. The silver frame is stamped "925".
13/16 inch (2.0 cm) wide, 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) tall and approximately 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) deep, depending on exactly how you angle the stand.
