Rainbow turgite, Graves Mountain, Georgia

A fascinating specimen of iridescent turgite with all the colours of the rainbow!  I got this direct from the miner, who saw some of my miniatures posts on social media and contacted me to ask if I was interested in a bunch of tiny specimens from a recent collecting trip.  A definite yes!  If you are really lucky, these specimens are sometimes colour changing too.  If you breathe on it, it might temporarily change colours, and then go back to how it was.  I'm not breathing all over this though to check.  That's up to you.  It is mounted on a polished onyx base.

1/2 inch (1.3 cm) wide, 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) deep and just under 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) tall.
