Partial pyrite sun, Illinois

This is actually part of what is called a pyrite sun, in which the pyrite crystal growth radiates out from a centre point.  Pyrite is also known as Fools' Gold, and this piece had a subtle golden shine to it.  It comes from Illinois, USA.  Mounted on a custom wooden base.

7/8 inch (2.2 cm) wide, 5/8 inch (1.6 cm) deep, 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall.
