Astrophyllite, Kola Peninsula, Russia

A dramatic specimen with golden brown metallic blades of astrophyllite contrasting with the white matrix.  Hard to photograph well as the blades catch the light however it is positioned.  This is a rare mineral, from the Kola Peninsula in Russia.  It is discreetly glued to a black plastic support so that it stands well for display.

1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) wide, 9/16 inch (1.4 cm) deep and 1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) tall.
