Druzy green garnet, January birthstone

Garnets occur in a wide variety of colours, and this specimen shows white matrix covered with tiny glittery pale green garnets.  Such a mass of tiny crystals is known as druzy or drusy.  This specimen is from the Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, Canada.  Garnet is a January birthstone.

15/16 inch (2.4 cm) wide, 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) deep and 5/8 inch (1.6 cm) tall.
