Fossil ammonite light box, Madagascar. Please read note about the electrics!

$38.00

SKU: 9119

A genuine fossil ammonite from Madagascar, split and polished.  It is mounted in a glass fronted light box, which is backlit to showcase the translucency and internal details of the fossil.  The fossil looks good even when not lighted.  The box itself is black plastic and has small notches on each side to help open it, which you can do if you want to remove the glass front.

NB: The light is a 3V LED, so can be run directly from a 3V battery or 3V DC transformer.  I am also including a rectifier and shrink tubing for the joins that you can add to the wires in order to run it directly from a standard 12V dollhouse transformer circuit.  If you are sure that you don't need the rectifier, please make a note with your order and I'll refund $2 for each rectifier not needed.  You can run up to four 3V LEDs through one rectifier.  If you plug the LED without the rectifier into a source higher than 3V and/or AC you WILL blow the light (I've accidentally done it with a 9V supply...)  The attached wires are approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and the rectifier unit adds another 12  inches of wire.

Ammonites are extinct relatives of modern day nautiloids and squid. The largest known ammonite in the world would have been 8 1/2 feet (2.59 metres) across if it were complete.

1 3/16 inches (3.0 cm) wide, 11/16 inch (1.75 cm) deep and 1 3/16 inches (3.0 cm) tall.
