Sea lily (crinoid) fossil, Indiana

This spectacular detailed fossil specimen features a number of articulated crinoid or sea lily stems extending across its width. There are also parts of other organisms, including a bryozoan. The crinoids are of the species Lanecrinus depressus. The specimen is from Casey's Bluff, Crawfordsville, Indiana. It is mounted on a black plastic support.
Crinoids, or sea lilies, flourished millions of years ago. A few species still survive today
deep in the oceans. Their stems are made up of a series of stacked discs, varying in exact design by species.
1 13/16 inches (4.6 cm) wide, 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) deep and 7/8 inch (2.2 cm) tall.
